Montreal, QC (Sports Network) - The Montreal Canadiens signed forward Tom Pyatt to a one-year contract on Monday. Pyatt, who was slated to become a restricted free agent on July 1, played 40 games for the Habs last season, collecting two goals and three assists. The 23-year-old rookie added two goals and four points in the playoffs. The Ontario native was part of the deal with the New York Rangers last summer that brought crafty center Scott Gomez to Montreal.

Montreal used the 22nd pick to take defenseman Jarred Tinordi, an American who is the son of former NHL defenseman Mark Tinordi. Phoenix took Canadian goaltender Mark Visentin with the 27th pick.

The Montreal Gazette cited a report from TSN of Canada that said the deal is worth $30 million. Plekanec posted career highs with 45 assists and 70 points in 82 regular- season games for the Habs. Darche appeared in 29 games for the Canadiens last season after being recalled from Hamilton of the AHL and finished with five goals and five assists. Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - The Anaheim Ducks signed center Kyle Chipchura to a one-year contract for the 2010-11 season on Friday. Anaheim acquired Chipchura from the Montreal Canadiens last December for a fourth-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. In 55 games with the Ducks, the former first-round pick scored a career-high six goals and added six assists. Chipchura, the 18th overall pick in the 2004 draft, has logged 10 goals, 16 assists and 87 penalty minutes in 123 career games.
